About the Scheme
Brief
It is a flagship programme of the Arunachal Pradesh government designed to preserve and promote the traditional textile heritage of various local tribes.
Objective
- To promote and protect the ancient and ethnic textile designs of various tribes in Arunachal Pradesh
- To increase the income of local weavers by reducing their production costs
- To help weavers produce high-quality products that can compete with modern market demands
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants must be bonafide residents (Arunachalee)
- Primarily targeted at active local weavers and artisans
- Preference is often given to weavers from Below Poverty Line (BPL) or poorer sections of society
- Passed-out trainees from government craft centers are also eligible for self-employment support
Benefits
- Free Raw Materials: Distribution of fine quality cotton yarn or acrylic yarn to selected weavers at no cost
- Tools and Equipment: Provision of weaving sets, including improved type frame handlooms, charkhas, and other essential tools
- Training and Skill Upgradation: Access to human resource skill training at district craft centers
- Marketing Platforms: Sponsoring participation in exhibitions and fashion events like Arunachal Fashion Week to sell finished products
