Nari Shakti Puraskar

Brief
The Nari Shakti Puraskar is Indias highest civilian honor specifically for women, presented by the President of India on International Womens Day (March 8th). It aims to recognize exceptional work done by women, particularly in the areas of social welfare, education, health, arts, entrepreneurship, and empowerment of marginalized women.

Objectives
- To acknowledge and encourage outstanding work done towards the economic and social empowerment of women
- To provide a platform to showcase and recognize womens trailblazing achievements in various fields
- To inspire younger generations to follow in the footsteps of the awardees
- To encourage greater participation of women in decision-making roles and non-traditional sectors

Eligibility Criteria
- The applicant must be at least 25 years of age as of July 1st of the award year
- Open to individual women and institutions, including NGOs, who have rendered distinguished services to the cause of women
- Applicants should not have received the same award previously (including Stree Shakti Puraskars)
- Outstanding contributions in leadership, science and technology, sports, art, culture, safety, health, or entrepreneurship
