About the Scheme
Brief
The One District One Product (ODOP) initiative is a flagship programme of the Government of India designed to foster balanced regional development by identifying, branding, and promoting at least one unique product from each district
Objectives
- Attract investment to boost manufacturing and exports at the district level
- Generate local employment opportunities and reduce migration for work
- Secure and develop local crafts, skills, and traditional arts
- Identify and brand unique products to make them competitive in international markets
- Provide an ecosystem for using modern technology and innovation at the district level
Eligibility Criteria
- The applicant must be an Indian citizen
- Minimum age of 18 years is required
- Must be involved in producing or processing the specific product identified for that district
- There is generally no compulsory educational qualification
- Applicants should not be defaulters of any nationalised bank or financial institution
- Exclusivity: Typically, only one person per family is eligible for financial assistance under the scheme
Benefits
- Financial Assistance: Access to credit-linked capital subsidies. For example, under related schemes like PMFME, a subsidy of 35% (up to ₹10 lakh) may be available
- Skill Development: Training in entrepreneurship, product design, packaging, and quality standards
- Market Support: Assistance for branding, marketing, and participating in national and international exhibitions
- Infrastructure: Support for establishing Common Facility Centres (CFCs) and specialized industrial hubs
- E-commerce Onboarding: Assistance for listing products on the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) and international platforms
