About the Scheme
Brief
STRY imparts skill-based training on various agri-based vocational courses to create a pool of skilled manpower for both farm and non-farm operations.
Objective
- Offer short-duration, need-based vocational training to rural youth, including farmers and farm-women
- Create a workforce capable of performing modern farm and non-farm operations
- Increase wage and self-employment opportunities in rural areas
Eligibility Criteria
- Age: 18 years and above
- Rural youth, farmers, and farm-women
- Must be a resident of a rural area
Benefits
- Short-term Training: Intensive training programs typically lasting 7 days (6 days of training + 1 day travel)
- Practical Focus: Curriculum often involves 70% practical training and 30% theory
- Certification: Trainees receive a certificate upon successful completion, which helps in seeking employment or credit from financial institutions
- Placement Support: Training institutions facilitate liaison with local agro-industries for potential placement within three months of completion
- Diverse Areas: Training is available in over 50 areas including Horticulture, Animal Husbandry, Dairy, and Fisheries
