About the Scheme
Brief
A central sector scheme providing 100% grant-in-aid to state governments and NGOs to run Vocational Training Centres (VTCs). It focuses on both traditional and modern trades with high local market potential.
Objective
To upgrade the skills of tribal youth (STs) based on their educational qualification and current economic trends to enable gainful employment or self-employment.
Eligibility Criteria
- Beneficiaries: Scheduled Tribes (STs) and Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs)
- Implementing Agencies: State/UT Governments, autonomous bodies, registered NGOs, and private institutions with at least 3 years of experience in tribal welfare
Benefits
- Stipend: Monthly stipend of ₹700 for trainees
- Materials: ₹1,600 per annum for raw materials and tools
- Free Training: Comprehensive coverage for boarding, lodging, and training expenses
- Certification: Trainees receive a certificate or diploma upon completion
- Placement support through linkages with financial institutions, NSTFDC, banks
